I was on category X medications (highly incompatible with pregnancy) when my boyfriend and I had an unplanned pregnancy. I was also in my first semester of graduate school and we were living long-distance. We wanted to continue the pregnancy, but decided to terminate due to the health risks and quality of life. If abortion had not been an option for us, I wouldn’t be in school now, we would be struggling financially to provide for either a terminally or chronically ill baby, or possibly mourning the death of our baby. We don’t regret our decision, we only wish that there had been more time for fetal tests and time to make our decision before the legal limit for abortion had been reached.
